Sport & Public Services

The Level 2 Sport and Public Services course is designed to prepare 16–19-year-olds for work or progression onto a Level 3 qualification. With this qualification you could look forward to a future career as a coach, physiotherapist, sport science technician, PE teacher, gym instructor, personal trainer, or a role in the military or emergency services.

This course is aimed at school leavers who are interested in a healthy, active lifestyle and are currently involved in sport related clubs or activities, such as athletics, football, gym or group exercise.

The units covered will include:

• Participating in sport
• Sports coaching
• Developing sporting skills and tactical awareness
• Introduction to uniformed protective services skills
• Physical preparation for the uniformed protective services

Students will work towards achieving both of the following qualifications:

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sport

NCFE L1 Certificate in Uniformed Protective Services

Following completion of this course:

• You can continue to study Sport through our Exercise Science and football academy pathways at Level 3
• You can continue to study Public Services at Level 3
• Find employment in the sports and fitness industry, such as, individual/group sports activities, health promotion, coaching and community development.

You will create a NCFE portfolio which will provide evidence of your skills, knowledge and understanding. This may include:

• Videos/photos of participation in practical activities
• Written assignments
• PowerPoints
• Leaflets
• Posters
• Professional discussions

You will need one of the following:

• A minimum of three GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including at least one in either English or Maths; or
• a combination of a Level 1 college qualification, together with Grade 3 GCSE English or Maths, or Level 1 Functional Skills.
