Summary
The Finance Apprentice should support the finance department while undergoing training. The role will combines on-the-job experience with formal learning, allowing the apprentice to gain practical knowledge of finance operations and work toward a professional qualification.
The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Duties will include;
- Assist with accounts payable – invoice processing, supplier statement reconciliations.
- Assist with accounts receivable. including credit control.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Help prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial statements.
- General Administration: Handle day-to-day finance-related queries and assist with ad hoc projects.
- Any other duties that fit with your role or add to your learning.

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
Apprentices will attend classes on Campus weekly, in addition to being visited in the workplace by a College Instructor-Mentor who will complete observations, professional discussions and discuss your progress.
More training information
Alongside job shadowing, the apprentice will be observed and supported by a senior team member in the workplace to ensure they are confident, competent, and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
