People considering their next step in education are being invited to explore their options, meet tutors and experience student life at a special open event in Buxton later this month.
Held at the University of Derby – Buxton, this will be a chance to learn more about the programmes on offer – from BTECs to apprenticeships and T-Levels – plus the progression options and next steps.
Visitors to the event, which will be held on September 26, will also be able to tour the specialist facilities such as the simulated hospital ward, fully-equipped hair and beauty salon and Harpurs Bistro, which features seven industry-standard kitchens and provides students with experience in a professional hospitality environment.
Meanwhile, those interested in sport can find out more about the University of Derby – Buxton’s links with Derby County Community Trust and Buxton FC and the opportunities available in a professional football environment.
Liam Tobin-Ward is the University of Derby – Buxton’s newly-appointed Head of Discipline for Further Education and Skills. He will be welcoming visitors to the open event, which will run from 10am until 2pm.
Liam, who has more than 20 years’ experience in education, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet our excellent, knowledgeable and experienced staff in-person, explore our wide range of courses and get clear, friendly advice on career pathways and student support.
“Prospective students will be able to see first-hand how our personal approach to learning, combined with our strong ties to local employers, creates an environment where everyone is supported to succeed.
“They will get the chance to sample student life here in Buxton, and learn more about what we can offer.”
