University of Derby Buxton is opening its doors for the first Open Event of the year on Thursday 12 February, 5pm–7pm, inviting prospective learners to meet tutors, explore the campus, and ask any pre-application questions that they may have.
Attendees will be able to tour the specialist facilities on campus, which include seven industry-standard kitchens, the AA Rosette‑commended Harpurs Bistro, Salon Inspire, a simulated hospital ward and childcare setting, plus Media and IT hubs — all providing learners with hands-on experience in professional environments.
Jenny Mather, Digital Communications Officer at University of Derby – Buxton, said:
“Our Open Events give students the chance to see what’s truly on offer at UoDB — from touring our facilities and meeting tutors, to having reassuring conversations about next steps. Held on a weeknight, the Open Event is ideal for those wishing to drop in after work or school.”
For students interested in a more hands-on route into employment, the event will also provide the opportunity to speak with members of UoDB’s Apprenticeship team. Apprenticeships are available across a broad range of subject areas, from Business to Culinary, offering learners the chance to build a career while earning a wage.
Adult learners are encouraged to attend the Open Event too and discover the full range of opportunities available. From short courses that support career progression to access courses that enable mature students to progress onto degree programmes, UoDB offers flexible study options designed to fit around work and family life.
Attendees can also speak with Progress Coaches for guidance on finance options and travel arrangements.
