Commis Chef Apprentice

Summary

We are looking for an eager apprentice to join our kitchen team. We are a family run hotel and restaurant located close to Ashbourne in Derbyshire. We will help you learn your craft in your chosen career path and to enjoy and be passionate about the dishes you serve to our guests. You’ll thrive off the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced kitchen being part of our friendly welcoming team with the posotive feedback from guests making it all worthwhile.

Annual wage £11,778 – £16,640

Training course Commis Chef
Hours 30 – 40 hours per week on a rota basis, shifts will be between 7am and 10.30pm and will include some evening and weekend work. Your working hours will include off-the-job hours such as attending college.

Work

You will learn all aspects of food preparation and service to the required standard with guidance from senior kitchen members. You will get the chance to assist in all areas of preparation from basic vegetable preparation, to baking to assisting with making our homemade dishes and helping to create new specials.

When necessary and able , to run a designated section in the kitchen in service.

Work closely with all other kitchen team members and be part of the team.

Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment, following training documents and reference materials as appropriate. Assist in the end on shift cleaning as well as assisting in the pot washing area and other deep cleaning duties as and when required

Be aware and follow food storage procedures including Food safety checks and due diligence, Delivery intake and stock rotation as well as
Date labelling

What you’ll do at work

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Other requirements

As we are located in Swinscoe Ashbourne you will need to consider how you will get to work as although we do have some bus service this in not particular frequent and doesn’t always run when required for shifts.

About this company

We are family run Country inn and restaurant with rooms in the small village of Swinscoe, just 3 miles from the market town of Ashbourne and 11 miles from Leek town centre. Situated at the edge of the beautiful Staffordshire/Derbyshire Border with fantastic views over the open country side.
We have 30 rooms in the grounds of the inn with fantastic garden and play area as well as a sun terrace, We are open for breakfast, lunch, Afternoon tea and dinner but also offer our fabulous Sunday Lunch.

After this apprenticeship

The apprenticeship has excellent potential to become a permanent position alongside promotion and/or further training.
